Osteoporosis: DXA Studies
Osteoporosis > Early Detection
Early detection is the best way to protect yourself from the debilitating effects of this disease. Colonial Orthopaedics offers on-site bone densitometry testing at our Colonial Heights location. The test is a non-invasive and painless procedure that requires about 15 minutes to conduct while you remain fully clothed and unconfined.
Medical research indicates that only one in four spine fractures are clinically recognized and patients with spine fractures are twice as likely to suffer hip fractures and five times as likely to experience subsequent spine fractures. Utilizing the state-of-the-art IVA technology, our physicians can visually assess spine fractures and better recommend ways to prevent and/or treat these conditions.
If you think you may be at risk for osteoporosis, call Colonial Orthopaedics at (804) 518-1300 to schedule your DXA, or ask your physician if a bone density test is right for you.
