Jennifer Harless is the manager of Hand Therapy and Occupational Therapy Services for Colonial Orthopaedics. A licensed Occupational Therapist, Jennifer has been a Certified Hand Therapist since 1995. She graduated from Medical College of Virginia (Magna Cum Laude) and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy in 1989. She gained her initial hand therapy experience at Hand Management Specialists in Richmond, Va. under the leadership of Dr. Wyndell Merritt. She then worked for HCA, developing a hand therapy program at Chippenham Medical Center before she accepted a full-time position at Colonial Orthopaedics in 2007.
In addition to her clinical practice skills, Jennifer has been an honored speaker for the Philadelphia Hand Therapy conference presenting a lecture on myofascial pain. She has had the privilege of speaking to her peers on various topics about upper extremity conditions and treatments in Grand Cayman, Pennsylvania, and the local area. She has embraced community service by offering educational lectures to church groups, sports groups, local philanthropy groups, and musicians. She has served as a consultant on the topic of ergonomics in the work place for various businesses in Richmond including Dupont, International Paper, Allied, and accounting offices.
Jennifer has over 20 years of experience, with custom splint design and the evaluation and treatment of myofascial pain syndrome as two of her most recognized talents. She is the Virginia representative for Lantz Medical, a company that offers hand/ wrist CPM machines used post-operatively for various hand conditions for optimal outcomes. Having lived and worked in Richmond, Va. her entire life, Jennifer has had the opportunity to work with many of the hand surgeons in this area and is very pleased to be associated with the distinguished surgeons of Colonial Orthopaedics.
